The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing free technical education nationwide by fully funding all Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs). The policy covers tuition, boarding, uniforms, textbooks, medical services, utilities, vocational training, and other essential costs, ensuring that students can focus on learning without financial burden.
Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, stressed zero tolerance for illegal charges, warning that no principal or staff member is permitted to demand unauthorized payments. Parents are encouraged to report any infractions directly to the Ministry through official hotlines and email channels.
Students in boarding schools are only required to provide personal items such as bedding, toiletries, cutlery, mosquito nets, and clothing for religious activities. The Ministry emphasized that these provisions reflect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key driver of youth skill development and employability.
The Ministry has also established monitoring mechanisms to ensure compliance across all schools. Officials stressed that the initiative aims to equip students with practical skills and produce a skilled workforce capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.
