The Federal Government has achieved significant progress in the rehabilitation of the Minna–Zungeru–Tegina–Kontagora Road in Niger State, particularly on Section II covering the Tegina–Kontagora stretch, which spans 92.295 kilometres. Between January 19 and 21, ongoing works included earthworks, laying of crushed stone base, and application of prime coat, as part of preparations for asphalt surfacing. The project is being executed under the Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme.

The rehabilitation forms part of the Renewed Hope Government’s efforts, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to transform Nigeria’s road network and enhance connectivity across the country. The project is supervised by the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, who has emphasized the importance of timely and quality execution to achieve the intended socio-economic benefits.

Upon completion, the project is expected to improve security, facilitate economic activities, and unlock growth opportunities in Niger State and neighbouring regions. By enhancing transportation infrastructure, the road is also set to strengthen national integration and contribute to sustainable development across the country.
