The Federal Government has announced the release of 30 per cent funding for key multibillion-naira road and bridge projects across the country. The projects include the Abuja–Kano highway, Enugu–Onitsha expressway, Nembe–Brass Road, Lagos–Sagamu–Ore highway, Bodo–Bonny Road, Ibadan–Ife–Ilesha dual carriageway, and the Ilesha–Akure–Benin corridor.
Officials say the funding will accelerate work on these critical infrastructure projects, which are considered vital to boosting economic growth, enhancing connectivity, and improving transportation safety nationwide. The government emphasised its commitment to ensuring timely completion of the projects despite prevailing fiscal challenges.
The announcement has been welcomed by stakeholders in the transport and construction sectors, who note that early release of funds could help contractors mobilise more effectively and avoid delays. The Federal Government says it will closely monitor progress to ensure accountability and quality delivery.
