The Federal Government of Nigeria (FG) has officially launched the Tertiary Institutions Staff Fund, providing financial support to staff across the nation’s higher education sector. Over 9,000 beneficiaries are set to gain from the scheme, with 248 institutions cleared to participate.
The initiative aims to enhance the welfare of tertiary institution staff by offering loans and grants that support professional development, housing, and other welfare needs. Officials said the program is part of the government’s broader commitment to improve staff productivity and strengthen Nigeria’s education sector.
Eligible staff members across approved universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education have been invited to apply for the fund, which is expected to positively impact both staff livelihoods and institutional efficiency. The government has assured that disbursement will be transparent, timely, and in line with the program’s objectives.
This rollout marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to boost the welfare of education workers, reinforcing the importance of investing in human capital to drive national development.
