FG Strengthens Climate Action Partnerships at Middle East Green Initiative Meeting in Saudi Arabia

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to strengthening international collaboration on climate action as the Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, participated in the Ministerial Council meeting of the Middle East Green Initiative held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The meeting brought together environment ministers and key stakeholders from across the Middle East and other regions to deliberate on coordinated approaches to climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and ecosystem restoration.

Nigeria’s participation highlighted the Federal Government’s resolve to remain actively engaged in global and regional platforms aimed at addressing the growing impacts of climate change, particularly on developing economies.

During his engagement at the council, the Minister emphasized the importance of partnerships in advancing reforestation programmes and nature-based solutions, noting that collective action remains critical to tackling desertification, land degradation, and climate-related risks.
