The Federal Government has received 12 Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (TAC) volunteers who successfully completed their two-year service mission in the Republic of Liberia. The volunteers, drawn from various professional fields including education, healthcare, and engineering, were deployed to support Liberia’s post-conflict recovery and institutional strengthening under the Technical Aid Corps Scheme, a flagship initiative of Nigeria’s foreign policy.
Speaking at the reception ceremony in Abuja, the Director-General of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, commended the volunteers for their dedication, professionalism, and exemplary representation of Nigeria abroad. He noted that their service reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope foreign policy agenda, which emphasizes regional cooperation, capacity building, and African solidarity.
The return of the volunteers marks another successful cycle of Nigeria’s commitment to South-South cooperation and regional development. The TAC Scheme, established in 1987, continues to promote mutual assistance and strengthen diplomatic ties between Nigeria and other developing nations. The government reaffirmed that future deployments will continue to align with Nigeria’s strategic goal of fostering peace, development, and shared prosperity across Africa.
