The Federal Government has withdrawn the criminal defamation and related charges filed against Senator Natasha Akpoti‑Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District.

Court documents show that on December 12, 2025, the Office of the Attorney‑General of the Federation filed a Notice of Discontinuance at the Federal High Court in Abuja, bringing the case to an end. The charges had been initiated following petitions by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

Senator Akpoti‑Uduaghan was accused of criminal defamation and cyberbullying over comments she made in a televised interview alleging threats to her life involving the two political figures. The proceedings have now been discontinued under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

The withdrawal concludes a high-profile case that drew nationwide attention and debate on the use of criminal defamation laws in political disputes.
