Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, hosted a high-level delegation on Monday to explore a strategic partnership for the deployment of solar-powered cold room storages and logistics. The initiative, spearheaded by the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), GENESIS Energy Group, USAID, and KPMG, aims to combat post-harvest losses and improve food security across the country.

The delegation outlined ongoing collaborations with key stakeholders to establish cold storage facilities in strategic locations nationwide. This effort is expected to significantly reduce spoilage of farm produce, streamline the supply chain, and support agricultural productivity.

Minister Edun lauded the initiative, emphasizing its alignment with the government’s priorities. He noted that food security remains a critical focus for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and praised recent economic reforms, such as market-driven fuel pricing and foreign exchange policies, for stabilizing the economy and attracting investment.

“The government is committed to fostering job creation, attracting foreign investment, and reducing poverty,” Edun stated, assuring the delegation of the Ministry’s full support for the project.

Key representatives at the meeting included Akinwole Omoboriowo, CEO of GENESIS Energy; Mohammed Ibrahim, NADF Executive Secretary; and Dimeji Salaudeen from KPMG.

This collaboration is set to advance Nigeria’s agricultural value chain, enhance food preservation, and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
