Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has announced that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) generated ₦3.7 trillion in the first half of 2025, exceeding its revenue target by 12.5 percent and surpassing last year’s performance by 25 percent.

Edun said the strong revenue outcome highlights progress but stressed the need for deeper reforms to sustain growth. He revealed that the government is pushing ahead with the National Single Window Initiative, a digital trade platform set for rollout in 2026 to streamline import and export processes, cut costs, and enhance efficiency.
The NCS Board also confirmed governance reforms, including senior-level appointments and promotions, to strengthen professionalism and institutional capacity. These changes are aimed at ensuring Customs delivers not just revenue but also global standards in trade facilitation.
According to Edun, the measures are part of the administration’s wider strategy to stabilise inflation and exchange rates, create a technology-driven trade system, and attract private sector investment for long-term economic growth.
