The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger digital inclusion for blind and visually impaired persons, emphasising the importance of Braille as a tool for dignity, independence, and equal opportunity.
In a message to mark World Braille Day 2026, Senator Tinubu highlighted the need to bridge the digital accessibility gap as societies become increasingly technology-driven. She noted that integrating Braille with modern technology is essential to guaranteeing equal access to information, education, and socio-economic opportunities.
The First Lady stressed that Nigeria must continue to create inclusive environments that enable all citizens to live full and independent lives. She also underscored the importance of strengthening policies and partnerships that empower persons with disabilities to participate confidently in national development.
Senator Tinubu reaffirmed the commitment of her office to promoting inclusion and equal access, describing Braille as a cornerstone of participation and empowerment for blind and visually impaired persons.
