The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 500 women in Abia State with ₦50,000 each through the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Women Economic Empowerment Programme. The initiative, implemented in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation, is aimed at boosting women-led businesses and supporting household livelihoods.

The disbursement took place in Umuahia, where Mrs. Tinubu was represented by Abia First Lady, Mrs. Priscilla Otti. She described the initiative as a transformational effort that would secure futures, educate children, and strengthen communities through direct economic empowerment.

The Renewed Hope Initiative targets 18,500 beneficiaries nationwide, with 500 women selected from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. According to the organisers, the grants are not loans but non-repayable financial support intended to serve as seed capital for women entrepreneurs.
