The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, joined her fellow African First Ladies in Banjul, The Gambia, for the 12th Edition of the MERCK Foundation First Ladies Initiative Committee (FLIC) Meeting held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

At the event, the First Ladies, in collaboration with the MERCK Foundation, launched Ray of Hope Animation Pictures, an advocacy project designed to raise awareness about childhood cancer, encourage early detection, and inspire compassion for affected children across Africa. Senator Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s strong commitment to improving healthcare access, supporting women and children, and providing hope to families battling cancer and other health challenges.

While in Banjul, the Nigerian First Lady also visited members of the Nigerian ECOMOG contingent serving in The Gambia, commending their dedication and patriotism. She later joined her host, the Gambian First Lady, Madam Fatima Bah Barrow, on a tour of a local exhibition showcasing Gambian creativity and products, strengthening bilateral ties between both nations.
