Five Dead in Wisconsin School Shooting, Authorities Confirm

At least five people have been killed and five others injured in a shooting at a school in Wisconsin, according to police reports.

Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes confirmed that the suspected shooter, a juvenile student at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, was among the deceased.

“This is a tragic day, not just for Madison, but for our entire country,” said Chief Barnes. “We need to do better.”

Officers responded to the school around 11 AM local time following reports of an active shooter. Upon arrival, they found multiple victims with gunshot wounds. Seven individuals were transported to the hospital.

Barnes noted that law enforcement officers from across the county and state are assisting with the investigation, which is still ongoing.

Local authorities have asked residents to avoid the area, with roads around the school closed.

A significant police presence remains at the scene, along with ambulances and emergency vehicles.

Chief Barnes added that officers had recently undergone training for active shooter situations two weeks ago.
