Former Delta North Senator Peter Nwaoboshi Passes Away After Prolonged Illness

Former member of the National Assembly and ex-Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, has died after battling an illness for several months.

The death of the former lawmaker was confirmed on Friday in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Festus Ahon.

Reacting to the development, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, described Nwaoboshi’s death as a profound loss to Delta State, the Anioma people and the country at large. He said the late senator was a prominent figure whose contributions to politics and national development would remain enduring.

The governor noted that Nwaoboshi was a courageous voice for Anioma interests and a respected son of the state, whose dedication to public service stood out throughout his political career.

Governor Oborevwori extended condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Anioma nation, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and all associates and supporters who were impacted by Nwaoboshi’s life and work.

He also recalled the former senator’s significant contributions at the National Assembly, particularly during his tenure as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, where he played an active role in advancing developmental initiatives for the Niger Delta region and Delta State.
