Former Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba and members of his family have been released from detention and have arrived in Luanda, the capital of Angola.
The development follows diplomatic efforts led by Angola’s President and current African Union Chair, João Lourenço, who engaged with Gabon’s transitional leader, President Brice Oligui Nguema, to secure the family’s release. The Angolan presidency confirmed their arrival via an official statement on social media.
