FRSC Warns Nigerians Against Certificates From Unaccredited Driving Schools

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has cautioned Nigerians against enrolling in unaccredited driving schools, warning that certificates issued by such institutions will not be accepted for driver’s licence processing.

The warning was issued on Sunday, August 31, 2025, by the Oyo State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mrs. Rosemary Alo, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan.

According to Alo, prospective drivers must verify the accreditation status of any driving school before registration to avoid wasting time and money. She stressed that only certificates from FRSC-accredited driving schools are valid for driver’s licence applications.

“Accredited driving schools are required to have qualified instructors, roadworthy training vehicles, and standard training facilities. Any institution that fails to meet these requirements risks sanctions, including suspension or outright revocation of its operating licence,” she said.

The Corps emphasized that the measure is part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety, tackle the proliferation of fake certificates, and ensure that drivers on Nigerian roads are properly trained.

FRSC also urged the public to consult its official platforms or visit its offices to confirm the list of accredited schools in their respective states before enrolling.
