Fubara Dumps PDP, Says Party Failed Him

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed him during the political crisis that rocked the state, explaining that this led to his decision to leave the party.

Fubara made the statement while addressing stakeholders after his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said the PDP did not protect or support him at a critical moment when he was facing serious political challenges.

According to the governor, the party abandoned him during his “trial period,” forcing him to seek political refuge elsewhere. He described his move to the APC as a necessary decision taken in the interest of stability and governance in Rivers State.

Fubara added that his defection was also informed by consultations with key political leaders and stakeholders, noting that he believes the APC provides a better platform for peace, cooperation and development.

The PDP has yet to issue an official response to the governor’s remarks.
