Fulham have emerged as a surprise contender in the pursuit of Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare, as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 24-year-old forward enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 campaign with Belgian side Genk, finishing as the Belgian Pro League’s top scorer with 17 league goals and 23 in all competitions. Standing at 6’4”, Arokodare’s mix of physical dominance, pace, and composure in front of goal has made him one of the most sought-after attacking talents in Europe this summer.

Interest in the Super Eagles striker has come from major clubs including Manchester United and AC Milan. However, according to The Sun (UK), Fulham have taken early steps by opening talks with Arokodare’s representatives following his recent switch to a new agency — a move believed to be geared toward facilitating a transfer to the Premier League.

“Fulham are plotting a summer move for Genk’s star striker Tolu Arokodare,” the report stated, adding that the West London club already boasts a strong Nigerian contingent, with Arokodare known to be close with compatriots Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.

Speaking exclusively to PUNCH Sports Extra earlier this week, Arokodare expressed his admiration for Manchester United and his ambition to play in England.

“Of course, that would be a dream,” he said when asked about the United links.

“I’m a Manchester United fan myself, so if it happens, it would mean a lot to me and my family. But for now, I’m still focused on playing for Genk — that’s where my mind is at the moment.”

While United and Sporting Lisbon are reportedly monitoring Arokodare as a more affordable option compared to big-name strikers like Viktor Gyökeres and Victor Osimhen, Fulham’s proactive approach could give them a competitive edge. The Sun also noted that Arokodare is “eager to secure a move to the Premier League.”

Fulham, who finished 10th under Marco Silva last season, are actively seeking attacking reinforcements. Raul Jimenez was the club’s top scorer with 12 goals, while Alex Iwobi added nine. Club officials believe that a more clinical forward is essential to challenge for European qualification next season.

Valued at around £15 million, Arokodare represents a cost-effective alternative to higher-priced targets. His physical style and Premier League-ready attributes make him an appealing prospect for Silva, who is said to be a strong admirer of the former Köln and Amiens striker.

The Nigerian international’s stock has risen considerably after winning the Ebony Boot, awarded to the best African player in Belgium. He has also earned a senior national team call-up, scoring once in four appearances for the Super Eagles — further fuelling speculation over a summer move.

Despite growing interest across Europe, Arokodare remains measured in his approach.

“Obviously, it’s a dream of mine to play in the Premier League,” he said.

“My eyes are definitely on that, but I also want to stay open to whatever good opportunities come my way. I’m going to take my time and make the best decision when the time comes.”
