Germany, the European Union, and Nigeria have unveiled a €18.3 million project to boost the cocoa, dairy, tomato, and ginger sectors.

The four-year initiative, implemented by GIZ, will run in Cross River, Kano, Kaduna, Kebbi, Ondo, Oyo, and Plateau states. It focuses on climate-smart farming, reducing post-harvest losses, improving access to finance and markets, and creating jobs for youth and women.

Nigeria spends about US$1.5 billion annually on dairy imports; the project aims to cut this bill while strengthening local production. Officials said it aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on food security, poverty reduction, and economic growth.
