In an effort to address the overwhelming problem of inbox clutter, Google has introduced an update to Gmail that allows users to easily unsubscribe from unwanted emails with just one click. The update, known as the ‘Manage Subscriptions’ tool, is designed to help users better manage subscription-based emails, providing a streamlined approach to sorting and eliminating unsolicited mail.

This new feature includes a simple one-click unsubscribe button next to relevant emails, allowing users to quickly remove themselves from mailing lists they no longer wish to receive emails from. As Chris Doan, Google’s Director of Product Management, explained in a blog post, “It can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of subscription emails clogging your inbox.”

“With Gmail’s new ‘Manage subscriptions’ feature, you can view and manage your subscription emails, making it easy to unsubscribe from the ones you no longer want all from a single place,” Doan added, emphasizing the tool’s user-friendly functionality.

The ‘Manage Subscriptions’ tool is currently available on the web version of Gmail, with updates for Android and iOS expected later this month.

In addition to improving email organization, Google is rolling out new AI-based defenses designed to block scam emails. According to the company, these AI-powered defenses are successful in blocking roughly 35% of scam messages. This feature is part of Google’s ongoing commitment to enhancing email security and providing users with better control over their inboxes.

This Gmail update follows a recent warning from the tech giant, alerting users to a phishing scam targeting customer payment details for membership renewals. Google continues to ramp up its efforts to protect users from such scams.
