Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State on Saturday visited several communities in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) that were recently attacked by armed assailants, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ending insecurity in the region.

During the condolence visit, Governor Mutfwang commiserated with the families of victims who lost their lives in the tragic Plateau killings and assured residents of ongoing efforts to restore peace and security.

Describing the coordinated attacks as a calculated attempt to destabilize the communities and impoverish the people, the governor urged residents to remain united and vigilant.

“I have come to see things for myself so as to know the next line of action; it will enable me to report back to the president so as to prevent the repeat of this ugly incident,” he said.

“It’s God that put all of you here; no one can drive you away. All that’s happening is to frighten you to abandon your land.”

“These happenings are to prevent all of you from farming; it is not just killing people but to ensure that we remain poor. But we will resist it,” he added.

Infrastructure, Youth Engagement, and Rebuilding Support

Governor Mutfwang also pledged to improve basic infrastructure in the affected Plateau communities, including better road networks, electricity, potable water, and mobile connectivity. He appealed to youths to avoid criminal behavior and instead join efforts to safeguard their communities from future attacks.

Commending the resilience of the people for choosing to stay and defend their land, the governor promised government support in rebuilding damaged homes and restoring livelihoods.

Federal Government Collaboration

Mutfwang expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his concern and intervention in addressing the security crisis in Plateau State.

“We are grateful to the president for his concern for our people; the president has no intention to colonise our people but to unite them.”

“He has demonstrated his genuine love for Plateau in this trying time, and he is doing everything to end this circle of attacks,” he said.

Community Leaders Call for More Support

Mr. Raymond Alo, District Head of Manguna, thanked the governor for visiting personally and for providing relief materials to displaced families. He further appealed for building materials to aid quick reconstruction of homes destroyed during the attacks.
