Governor Bello Uba of Zamfara State has called for the establishment of a dedicated Northwest Theatre Command of the Nigerian military to enhance operational efficiency against insecurity in the region.
Speaking at a security summit in Gusau, Governor Uba emphasized that a regional command would enable faster deployment of troops, improved coordination among security agencies, and more effective responses to banditry, kidnapping, and other security challenges affecting the Northwest.
He urged the Federal Government to prioritize the initiative as part of broader efforts to strengthen national security, noting that such a command would complement ongoing operations and community-based strategies to restore peace and stability.
The Governor also reiterated the importance of equipping the military with modern tools, intelligence capabilities, and adequate personnel to effectively tackle security threats in the region.
