ENUGU, Nigeria – Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has declared that the bold economic reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu have “brought stability to the Nigerian economy,” urging citizens to remain steadfast as the sacrifices made today will ultimately yield positive results.

In his Independence Day message commemorating Nigeria’s 65th anniversary, Governor Mbah congratulated Nigerians on reaching the “proud milestone” and called for a spirit of optimism and unity in confronting the nation’s current challenges.

While acknowledging that the celebration may be subdued, Mbah asserted that the significance of Nigeria’s journey and recent strides should not be underestimated.

“At 65, our independence is a reminder of what we can achieve as a people when we are united. It is also a reminder that progress demands sacrifice, and that tomorrow is shaped by the choices we make today,” the governor stated.

He directly linked the nation’s progress to the federal government’s policies, saying, “Those strides are manifest in the remarkable achievements we have recorded across key sectors. They reflect as well in the bold reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that have brought stability to the Nigerian economy.”

Addressing the prevailing economic difficulties, Mbah offered reassurance: “The sacrifices may be huge today, but there is no doubt that the end will vindicate the decisions if we stay the course.”

Enugu’s Path to Exponential Growth

Turning his focus to Enugu State, Governor Mbah reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to an inclusive development model that ensures no citizen is left behind. He outlined a series of initiatives demonstrating the state’s “pathway to assured turnaround and exponential economic growth.”

Key achievements and ongoing projects highlighted include:

· The revitalization of moribund state assets.
· Enhanced security of lives and property.
· The transition of school children to 260 Smart Green Schools.
· The construction of 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres to serve rural communities.
· The development of a modern transport system and infrastructure for convenient and affordable commuting.

“In Enugu State, this Independence Day is a fitting occasion to recommit to our pledge to make inclusion the cornerstone of government policy; to create wealth and deploy it for the benefit of everyone,” Mbah said.

Concluding his message, the governor called for a renewed national covenant: “As we raise our flags today, let us renew our covenant to Nigeria; let us embrace the spirit of unity, and let us uphold the optimism that has carried us this far.”
