Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, where both leaders held extensive discussions on ongoing development initiatives in the state. Governor Sani described the meeting as productive, noting that the President received him with warmth and reaffirmed his strong support for Kaduna’s priorities across key sectors.
The Governor expressed deep appreciation for the Federal Government’s backing of Kaduna’s agriculture and agribusiness agenda, highlighting that the state has become the first sub national in Nigeria to establish both a Special Agro Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) and an African Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC). He noted that these institutions will anchor modern agribusiness, enhance export competitiveness, and expand major agricultural value chains across the North and the wider Sahel region. He also briefed the President on Kaduna’s 2026 budget, which allocates over 10 percent of total spending to agriculture, surpassing the Malabo Declaration benchmark.
Governor Sani further updated President Tinubu on Kaduna’s ambitious transport modernization projects, including the Light Rail system and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) scheme, the second in Nigeria after Lagos. The President, he stated, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting enhanced peace and security in the state, as well as the expedited completion of major federal infrastructure, particularly the Abuja Kaduna Zaria Kano expressway. Governor Sani described the engagement as highly rewarding and crucial to Kaduna’s development trajectory.
