The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Agricultural Input Supply Authority (LAISA), has engaged over 500 farmers and fishermen across the Ikorodu Division as part of efforts to boost food security and agricultural productivity in the state.

Speaking during the engagement program, officials of LAISA emphasized the state government’s commitment to enhancing food production through the adoption of modern farming techniques, capacity building, and access to quality agricultural inputs.

The initiative forms part of the state’s broader Food Systems Transformation Agenda, aimed at improving the productivity and profitability of smallholder farmers while reducing the state’s dependence on imported food supplies.

Participants received training on innovative farming methods, including climate-smart agriculture, sustainable fisheries management, and post-harvest handling practices to minimize losses and increase yield.

According to the agency, empowering local farmers with practical knowledge and resources is key to ensuring a resilient and self-sufficient food system in Lagos.

The program also aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision to achieve a sustainable agricultural value chain that supports job creation, economic diversification, and food sufficiency.
