Gunmen Storm Sokoto Mosque, Kidnap Worshippers

Suspected bandits have attacked a mosque in Bushe community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, abducting at least 10 worshippers, including the Imam.

Eyewitnesses told Channels Television that the gunmen stormed the mosque on Thursday morning while worshippers were performing the early morning Subhi prayer.

Residents reported that the community has been facing persistent attacks despite the presence of security personnel. However, the timely intervention of security forces, led by troops of the Nigerian Army, helped contain the situation.

The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the attack on Friday. The Command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Rufai, stated that security agencies are actively working to rescue the abducted victims.

A member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly representing the Sabon Birni B Constituency also verified the incident and commended security agencies for their swift response.
