Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, has unveiled her ambitious vision for the next two years, aiming to set the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) as the benchmark for all Federal Civil Service Ministries, Extra-ministerial Departments, and Agencies both in Nigeria and globally.

Speaking at a town hall meeting with OHCSF staff in Abuja on Tuesday, Walson-Jack detailed her agenda, focusing on three core pillars: Efficiency, Accountability, and Well-being and Development.

“This is a bold and ambitious goal, and it is one that we can only achieve together,” Walson-Jack said. “Your role in this vision is not just crucial; it is indispensable. I value each of you for your dedication and hard work, and I believe your collective efforts will make this vision a reality.”

She emphasized the need for efficiency through streamlining processes, embracing technology, and eliminating bottlenecks. “We live in a fast-paced world, and the civil service must reflect that reality. We can’t afford to be left behind,” she stated.

Walson-Jack also stressed the importance of accountability. “We serve the public, and they expect results. We will put systems in place to ensure that every task, no matter how big or small, is completed excellently. Accountability is not about blame but ensuring we deliver our best daily work,” she explained.

The third pillar, Well-being and Development, highlights the importance of staff health and job satisfaction. “Our staff are our greatest asset. Your health, both physical and mental, your development, and your job satisfaction matter to me,” Walson-Jack said. She pledged to provide the necessary training, resources, and support to help staff thrive.

Walson-Jack committed to leading by example with a focus on openness, collaboration, and continuous improvement. “Leadership does not come from the top. We are all leaders in our own way, and I want to foster an environment where everyone feels empowered to take ownership of their work and contribute to our collective success,” she added. However, she also noted that there would be consequences for failure to perform assigned tasks, in accordance with the Public Service Rules 2021.

The Head of Civil Service of the Federation concluded by reiterating her dedication to transforming OHCSF into a global standard of excellence and support for the team’s collective success.
