Nigerian celebrity chef and former Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has unveiled her next record-breaking ambition: to cook the world’s biggest pot of jollof rice. In a video shared on Instagram on Monday, Hilda announced plans to prepare 250 bags of basmati rice in a massive 22,619-litre pot.
According to her, the pot — measuring six meters wide, 1.1 meters tall, and 1.3 meters deep — will be used for the large-scale cooking set to take place on September 12, 2025. The event, she explained, is expected to feed at least 10,000 people, marking another milestone in her culinary journey. “I’m making the executive decision to cook 250 bags of basmati rice… I’m sure the pot is not going to sink,” she said.
This bold attempt comes two years after Hilda cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, an achievement that earned her global acclaim. Her latest venture aims not only to set a new world record but also to celebrate Nigerian cuisine on a grand scale.
