In a heartfelt ceremony, Hon. Fuad Atanda Lawal, immediate past Chairman of Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area (LCDA), presented a Certificate of Recognition to Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, in commemoration of a street named in his honour.

The symbolic gesture, which reflects deep appreciation for Mr. Edun’s exceptional contributions to national development and public service, was marked by moving tributes and emotional exchanges.

In his speech, Hon. Lawal described the honour as a timeless marker of impact, expressing gratitude for Mr. Edun’s unwavering support over the years.

“A place that generations will ask, ‘What was Wale doing, and who was Wale Edun?’ Then they will google it and find out,” Hon. Lawal said. “For everything you have done for me and my career, for the support you gave me from 2017 to 2025, I didn’t disappoint you — and I will not.”

Responding to the honour, Mr. Wale Edun expressed deep appreciation, describing the recognition as both unexpected and humbling.

“Well done, and I thank you very much for this great honour, which I see as a privilege — something to be very proud of, something to cherish, totally unexpected and out of the blues,” Edun remarked. “I thank you for the recognition, and God bless you.”

The newly named street stands as a permanent symbol of Edun’s legacy and a reminder of his enduring influence in shaping Nigeria’s economic landscape. The event was attended by political associates, community stakeholders, and well-wishers who commended the gesture as a fitting tribute to a man whose service continues to inspire.
