The horticultural sector has facilitated the mobilisation of €4.1 million in finance, unlocking fresh opportunities for smallholder farmers and creating new jobs across the value chain.
The initiative, driven by sector stakeholders and development partners, aims to expand access to tailored financial products, improve farmers’ capacity, and strengthen resilience in horticultural production. It also seeks to address rising input costs, improve access to markets, and foster private sector participation.
Officials noted that the financing push will not only boost food security and nutrition but also stimulate rural employment, particularly among women and youth. By expanding access to finance, the sector expects to generate thousands of jobs while stabilising incomes for farmers.
The horticultural industry remains a key driver of agricultural diversification, with the latest financial support reinforcing its role in reducing poverty and building sustainable livelihoods.
