
The Nigerian Police have clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of retired Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, David Parradang, countering speculations that he was killed by kidnappers.
Police Statement on Parradang’s Death
According to a statement released by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, Mr. Parradang was found dead in a hotel room in Abuja on March 4, 2025, hours after his female guest left his room.
The statement, signed by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that Mr. Parradang checked into Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, Abuja, on March 3, 2025, at about 12 p.m., paying N22,000 for a one-night stay. He arrived at the hotel in a black Mercedes Benz.
Sequence of Events Leading to His Death
The police report detailed that shortly after checking in, Mr. Parradang requested that a female guest be escorted to his room. The woman left the premises at approximately 4 p.m. that same day.
However, Mr. Parradang did not exit his room afterward. Around 4 a.m. on March 4, 2025, a military officer, who was a friend of the deceased and concerned about his well-being, traced him to the hotel. Upon arrival, the hotel receptionist and the officer proceeded to his room, where they found Mr. Parradang deceased, seated in a chair.
Police Investigation Underway
Authorities at Durumi Police Station were notified, and officers quickly arrived at the scene, securing the area, documenting evidence, and collecting necessary materials to ensure a thorough investigation.
The police confirmed that Mr. Parradang’s body has been transferred to the National Hospital for an autopsy and further procedures. Additionally, hotel staff are cooperating with ongoing investigations.
Efforts to Locate Female Guest
Law enforcement officials stated that efforts are in top gear to track down and question the female guest who was last seen with Mr. Parradang.
Public Advisory Against Misinformation
The FCT Police Command urged the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified claims, particularly rumors about a kidnapping, which could incite unnecessary panic.
“We are committed to a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Parradang’s death. We appreciate the public’s cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure justice is served,” the statement read.
