Hugh Jackman is known for his smooth, charismatic performances — but even the most seasoned stars have their embarrassing moments. The Wolverine actor recently recalled a surprising incident from the 1990s, when he played Gaston in an Australian stage production of Beauty and the Beast.
Speaking on the Dec. 10 episode of The Howard Stern Show, the 57-year-old revealed that during a scene where Gaston lifts Belle, he suddenly felt a small leak. “As I picked Belle up, a little bit of piss came out,” Jackman admitted, adding that he was wearing bright red tights at the time, making the moment even riskier.
Belle, slung over his shoulder, sensed something was wrong. “She goes, ‘What’s going on?’ ’Cause I’d stopped singing,” Jackman recalled. With the audience watching and the big finale note approaching, he faced a dilemma: hit the F sharp and risk making the accident obvious, or avoid the note entirely and break character.
Jackman shared the story with his trademark humor, proving once again why fans love him both on and off the stage.
