The National Water Commission (NWC) is facing losses exceeding J$10 billion following the widespread destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa. The costs encompass damaged infrastructure, operational disruptions, lost revenue, and expenses related to relief and restoration efforts.

Officials have outlined a phased restoration plan. The first phase alone is estimated at more than J$3.2 billion, while the following 4–6 months of recovery efforts are expected to cost an additional J$6.9 billion.
