The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially commenced the distribution of sensitive electoral materials across Ondo State in preparation for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.

The distribution, which began at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, was confirmed by INEC in a statement shared on its X (formerly Twitter) handle. The sensitive materials were dispatched from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Akure and have been transported to all 18 local government areas in the state. Each convoy was under heavy security escort and accompanied by party agents, observers, and media representatives to ensure transparency and public trust in the electoral process.

INEC noted that earlier on Thursday morning, Prof. Kunle Ajayi, the Supervising National Commissioner for Ondo, Ogun, and Osun States, along with Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, countersigned the Ward and Local Government Area Collation Result Sheets at the CBN, Akure. This step, conducted in the presence of key stakeholders, was taken to further reassure the public of the commission’s commitment to transparency and credibility.

INEC’s swift and organized preparation highlights its commitment to a free, fair, and credible election process as Ondo State residents prepare to vote in the critical gubernatorial election
