The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday morning commenced the distribution of sensitive materials to the 18 local government areas of Edo State in preparation for the upcoming election.

The distribution took place at the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Akpakpava Road, Benin. Vehicles hired to transport the materials to various locations were already stationed near the CBN, as the area was temporarily closed to commercial activities. Buses entering and exiting the area had to ply one-way routes to accommodate the process.

Supervised by the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Onuoha Anugbum, the distribution drew a large number of journalists from print and electronic media to document the event. Party officials were also on-site to monitor the proceedings.

Despite an early morning drizzle, the distribution team, along with other stakeholders, continued their work under a canopy to ensure the process moved smoothly.

Anugbum confirmed the start of the distribution to journalists, saying, “Yes, we are here, and we have commenced the distribution of sensitive materials to the local government areas.”
