The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, August 25, commenced the physical phase of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the country. This follows the online pre-registration process which began on August 18. The nationwide exercise is a key step in preparations for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, INEC urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the registration exercise. The commission announced that the in-person CVR will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Mondays to Fridays. Nigerians who have already completed their online pre-registration were advised to visit their respective INEC State Headquarters or Local Government Area offices to finalise their registration.
The commission also provided helpline numbers for enquiries and shared a link to a list of registration centres across the country. INEC encouraged citizens not to delay the process, stressing the importance of early participation in the exercise ahead of the 2027 polls.
