A high-powered delegation from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Headquarters has continued its readiness and assessment visit to Anambra State ahead of the 2025 Governorship Election. The team, led by National Commissioners and joined by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Anambra State, Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, held strategic meetings with key stakeholders to review logistics and operational plans for the forthcoming polls.
As part of the visit, the delegation met with the 21 Electoral Officers (EOs) across the state’s local government areas to assess their level of preparedness and address identified challenges. The meeting focused on improving logistics coordination, ensuring early deployment of materials, and strengthening collaboration among field officers.
National Commissioner supervising Anambra State, Dr. Kenneth Ukeagu, commended the Electoral Officers for their dedication and urged continued cooperation under the incoming INEC Chairman. He emphasized the importance of timely activation of Registration Area Centres (RACs), adequate mobilization of poll officials, and prompt opening of polling units. Dr. Ukeagu also directed officers to ensure proper vehicle arrangements, documentation, and effective post-election logistics.
Also speaking, the National Commissioner in charge of Election Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, tasked the officers to take ownership of their responsibilities and maintain high standards of accountability in managing both sensitive and non-sensitive materials. She advised them to properly batch materials as they arrive, verify assigned registers, and conduct refresher training at RAC Centres to ensure smooth operations on election day.
