Information Minister Commends Super Eagles’ Display at AFCON

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has commended the Super Eagles for representing Nigeria with pride and dignity at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the minister praised the national team for their character, teamwork and resilience, noting that these qualities remained evident even in defeat. He said such attributes reflect the true spirit of the nation the players represent.

Idris acknowledged that football comes with both victories and setbacks but stressed that the Super Eagles’ effort, commitment and fighting spirit throughout the competition earned them the respect and gratitude of Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

According to him, the team’s performance reminded Nigerians that donning the green and white jersey symbolises courage, unity and perseverance. He encouraged the players to remain proud of their outing, draw lessons from the experience, stay united and return stronger in future competitions.

The minister concluded by reaffirming the government’s continued support for the national team as they prepare for upcoming international engagements.
