Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc has partnered with the Car Love Show and K-Cool Automobile to host a car maintenance and safety clinic at its Lagos office.

According to the insurance firm, the event held on Saturday was part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.

The interactive session, which gathered a community of car owners, including female e-hailing drivers, marked the company’s first step in a broader plan to promote road safety and reduce preventable vehicle-related accidents across Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Dr. Adaobi Nwakuche emphasised the company’s commitment to building a safety-first culture by starting with Lagos and eventually extending the initiative nationwide.

“This initiative is about prevention, education, and safety.”

We’re starting here in Lagos, but the plan is to roll this out across all our branches. When people understand how to maintain their vehicles, they reduce the chances of accidents, protect lives, and make our roads safer for everyone. That’s the kind of impact we’re committed to as a responsible insurer,” Nwakuche said.

Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Mr. Arinze Adigwe, described the event as a CSR initiative focused on direct community impact.

“This is not about selling insurance; it’s about being present where it matters. Educating the everyday car owner on basic maintenance is one way to reduce claims, yes, but more importantly, it’s how we help people stay safe and avoid harm,” Adigwe stated. “Through this platform, we’re enabling conversations that ultimately contribute to a safer society.”

The event featured free vehicle diagnostics, interactive Q&A sessions, and one-on-one consultations with automotive professionals from K-Cool Automobile Workshop and Academy.

General Manager at K-Cool, Engineer Oluwakayode Osorun, provided insights on essential maintenance practices and emphasised the importance of understanding the right components and fluids for each vehicle.

“We took time to guide participants on proper maintenance routines, from the right type of engine oil to use to the appropriate brake fluid, transmission oil, and even tyre choices. When car owners use the wrong products or ignore small warning signs, it increases the risk of breakdowns and accidents. Simple knowledge can prevent major loss,” Osorun shared.
