
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Territorial Office, have successfully repatriated 180 Nigerians who were stranded in Libya.
According to a statement from NEMA, the group arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos around 7:30 PM on Wednesday, on a charter flight operated by Al-Buraq Airlines.
The returnees comprised 67 adult females, 55 adult males, 24 female children, 18 male children, and 16 infants.
Upon their arrival, the Nigerian Immigration Service conducted biometric profiling to ensure proper documentation and support for the returnees. Various government agencies also provided humanitarian assistance to facilitate their reintegration into society.
The statement from NEMA highlighted the IOM’s vital role in aiding Nigerians stranded abroad, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of migrants through this latest evacuation.
