On July 15, 2025, Iranian authorities executed Kianoush Khosravi Siah-Beydi in Kermanshah and Ghasem Azizi in Birjand, both without prior public announcements from state-affiliated media. Khosravi Siah-Beydi, a Kurdish man from Siah-Bid-e Olya village in Kermanshah province, had been arrested six years earlier and sentenced to death by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judiciary on charges of premeditated murder. Azizi, arrested on drug-related charges, was executed at dawn on July 14, 2025, in Birjand Prison. Both executions were carried out without official reporting by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated outlets .

These executions are part of a broader pattern of increasing use of the death penalty in Iran, particularly against political prisoners and members of ethnic minorities. Human rights organizations have condemned these actions, highlighting the lack of fair trials and the use of torture to extract confessions. The international community continues to call for an immediate halt to these executions and for the Iranian government to uphold its obligations under international human rights law.
