Kabiru Turaki, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said that Nigerians are “yearning” for the opposition party to return to power in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Tuesday during a meeting with former governors, ministers, and senior party members in Abuja, Turaki described the PDP’s 16 years in government between 1999 and 2015 as a “glorious” era that brought stability and development to the nation.

He emphasized the importance of engaging with party stalwarts whose dedication, sacrifice, and selfless service contributed to the PDP’s historic achievement of winning consecutive national elections four times. Turaki noted that reconnecting with these leaders is essential for rebuilding the party and positioning it to reclaim governance for Nigerians.

The PDP chairman further stressed that the party remains committed to presenting a credible alternative to the ruling government, highlighting the need to restore public confidence and strengthen internal structures ahead of 2027.
