The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has completed the registration process for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with over two million candidates set to participate in the exam scheduled for April 25, 2025.
According to JAMB’s weekly bulletin, a total of 2,030,627 candidates successfully registered for the UTME as of March 8, 2025. This figure excludes candidates registered for the exam at foreign centers.
Additionally, 200,115 candidates have expressed interest in taking the optional mock UTME on April 5, 2025, while 630 candidates have registered for a separate trial mock examination on the same date.
Crackdown on Exam Malpractice
With registration now closed, JAMB has shifted its focus to enhancing examination security and implementing new anti-cheating measures to uphold the integrity of the test.
The board disclosed that these measures have already led to the arrest of multiple candidates attempting to gain admission using forged A-level results. It also warned candidates against engaging in malpractice, emphasizing that strict monitoring systems have been put in place to detect and penalize fraud.
JAMB further reminded candidates and stakeholders that UTME registration is separate from school-based exams like WAEC and NECO, urging compliance with its registration protocols.
