The Jigawa State Government has approved road construction projects worth over ₦30 billion as part of efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure and boost agricultural productivity across the state.

Governor Umar Namadi made the announcement during the flag-off of one of the key projects — the 30-kilometre Tsakuwa–Koya–Kafin Hausa Road — located in Miga Local Government Area. The road, valued at approximately ₦7 billion, is expected to be completed within 12 months.

Governor Namadi said the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to transforming rural communities through improved infrastructure that facilitates access to markets, healthcare, and education.

“Miga is one of Jigawa’s major agricultural hubs, with vast Fadama lands supporting year-round farming,” Namadi stated. “These roads will make it easier for farmers to move their produce, reduce post-harvest losses, and enhance food security in the state.”

According to the governor, the ₦30 billion investment will open up rural areas, attract investors, and stimulate economic activities in local communities.

The projects form part of Jigawa’s broader infrastructure agenda, which includes the completion of 26 inherited road projects and the launch of 48 new ones covering nearly 1,000 kilometres across the state.

Residents of Miga and surrounding areas have lauded the initiative, describing it as a long-awaited development that will ease transportation challenges and improve their livelihoods.

Governor Namadi reiterated his administration’s focus on agriculture-driven economic growth, emphasizing that improved rural connectivity remains central to Jigawa’s development strategy. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
