Johnson Slams Chelsea For failing to sign Osimhen

Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has criticized the club for failing to secure the signing of Victor Osimhen from Napoli during the recent summer transfer window. Chelsea had been heavily linked with the Nigerian striker throughout the summer but ultimately missed out.

Despite their determined efforts to sign Osimhen on transfer deadline day, the Premier League club was unable to finalize a deal. Instead, the 25-year-old forward moved to Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray on a season-long loan.

Johnson expressed his disappointment, stating that Chelsea should have signed the powerful striker to strengthen their young squad. “The obvious one would be Victor Osimhen. He was the big name they wanted and didn’t get,” Johnson told Betfred.

“They’ve brought in a lot of young players who might not feature immediately, despite the heavy spending, and I believe Osimhen was the key signing they missed out on.”
