The action-packed political satire One Battle After Another and the blues-infused vampire drama Sinners emerged as the top contenders at this year’s Hollywood Actor Awards—formerly the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards—after nominations were unveiled on Wednesday.

Both films are nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, one of the ceremony’s most prestigious honors. They will compete against Hamnet, the Shakespeare-inspired drama; Marty Supreme, a ping-pong-themed film; and the Gothic sci-fi epic Frankenstein.

The Actor Awards are widely seen as a strong indicator of Oscar success, as winners are voted on by SAG-AFTRA members, the largest voting bloc in the Academy. The Oscars will be held in March.

Among the standout acting nominations:
• Leonardo DiCaprio for his role as Bob in One Battle After Another
• Michael B. Jordan for his dual performance as twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore in Sinners
• Jessie Buckley for her portrayal of Agnes Hathaway in Hamnet

On the television side, The White Lotus leads the drama field, competing with medical series The Pitt and psychological thriller Severance.
In the comedy category, fan-favorite The Bear will face off against The Studio, Abbott Elementary, and Hacks.

With major contenders now in place, awards season momentum is officially in full swing.
