
The remains of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, have been airlifted from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Wing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, en route to Abuja.
At exactly 9:00 AM, soldiers from the Guards Brigade solemnly received the body, preparing to honor their fallen military leader with full military rites.
According to J.O Comms, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja passed away last Tuesday at the age of 56, following an undisclosed illness.
He was appointed as Chief of Army Staff by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, 2023.
The body is expected to arrive in Abuja this Thursday, where further burial rites will be conducted before the final interment at the National Military Cemetery in the capital on Friday, November 15, 2024.
