Juventus Begin Talks for Wilfred Ndidi in Potential Bargain Move

Juventus have initiated discussions with Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi as they explore a potential cut-price transfer from Leicester City this summer, following the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, the Bianconeri have already reached out in England to assess the financial and contractual details surrounding the 28-year-old, who reportedly has a release clause that could see him leave for just £9 million (€10 million).

“This is where the opportunity lies,” Tuttosport noted. “Wilfred Ndidi, 28 years old, defensive midfielder for Leicester. A clause in his contract, signed last summer and valid until 2027, was activated after the club’s relegation—allowing him to be released for just over €10 million.”

Ndidi, a key figure at Leicester since joining from Genk in 2017, has racked up 303 appearances. Although he wasn’t part of the club’s historic 2016 Premier League-winning squad, he played vital roles in Leicester’s FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs in the years that followed.

The Nigerian international is attracting widespread interest, with Manchester United, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Everton all reportedly monitoring his situation. Overseas, Real Betis in Spain and Saudi club Al Ahli are also keeping tabs.

However, Juventus could hold a competitive edge. The Italian giants offer the allure of Champions League football, financial stability, and top-tier prestige under coach Igor Tudor.

“Tudor’s Juventus offer not just money and status, but also European football—factors that are likely to appeal to the Nigerian, who interestingly hails from the same city as Victor Osimhen,” Tuttosport added.

Ndidi is viewed as a potential replacement for Weston McKennie, whose contract talks with Juventus have reportedly stalled and may lead to a departure.

Having recently secured Canadian striker Jonathan David on a free transfer, Juventus are now eyeing Ndidi as another shrewd addition. Once valued at over €60 million, the Nigerian’s current buyout clause presents a rare market opportunity for the Turin club.
