How Long Before Security Forces Contain These Relentless Attacks?

Bandits have once again struck in Kaduna State, invading four settlements in Iddo village near Janjala in Kagarko LGA and making away with 365 cows in a brazen nighttime raid. The attack, which occurred around 8:33 p.m. on Tuesday, left residents in fear as armed men wielding AK-47 rifles stormed herders’ camps and forcibly drove the livestock away.

A resident, Tukur Musa, confirmed the incident, describing how the bandits arrived in large numbers and moved from one Fulani settlement to another while firing sporadically. He said several herders were forced to flee for safety as the attackers overpowered the communities. The scale and coordination of the operation have deepened concerns over worsening insecurity in the area.

A community leader, who requested anonymity, said he received a distress call and promptly alerted troops stationed in Kagarko town. However, by the time security forces mobilized, the bandits had already escaped with the stolen cattle through Hayin-Dam toward Kurutu village. With residents on edge and livestock losses mounting, the pressing question now is: when will meaningful security interventions bring relief to these vulnerable communities?
