Kaduna Electric Distribution Company has restored power to its franchise areas—Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi states—after a five-day outage.
The Kaduna State government convened a crucial meeting on Friday at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, bringing together Kaduna Electric’s management and representatives from two in-house labor unions. The discussion resulted in an immediate resolution to restore power.
A statement issued after the meeting confirmed that all parties agreed to review past actions and collaborate toward an amicable settlement.
A reliable source disclosed that Governor Uba Sani played a mediatory role, assuring fairness to both sides. He commended the unions for their cooperation, while the unions, in turn, acknowledged the leadership of Kaduna Electric’s Managing Director, Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu.
Following the agreement, representatives from Kaduna Electric, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), and the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) officially signed the resolution. Power was subsequently restored on Saturday night.
